What do we do?

Ministries

• We are an encouraging and participatory community which invites and uses the gifts of all our members. We seek to nourish the Spirit within each of us and among us and within our world by strengthen our community. We welcome all those who seek to grow with us, and encourage them to live out their gifts in the life and work of the congregation. As we joyfully celebrate the love of God made know through Jesus Christ together with the people of God in Christian Island, the CIUC has also explored and developed a closer relationship with its neighboring pastoral charge, St. Paul’s United Church (Midland). Since two churches commonly serve a wide area, and in many respects, the same people, there has been increasing need to look further in terms of making better and more effective relationship and building common vision especially when it comes with the ministry for young people within both churches.

• The Sunday School meets during the 11:00 AM worship experience. Children begin their Sunday morning in worship and head out to classes located in the basement after the theme conversation (11:15 AM). Then they are looked after by our volunteer Sunday School teacher(s). One of children is also invited to light the candle just before our Sunday service. Volunteer teacher(s) may sometimes be recruited from our youth member(s).
  • *Pot-luck Sunday, last Sunday of each month, we celebrate our fellowship through pot-luck gathering. Everyone is welcome to share the food and the time with us. Just remember last Sunday of every month.

• Worship Hour

  All are welcome to our Sunday service (11 AM).
  Residents from Cedar Point or Midland can take 10:00AM ferry to attend the service.
  Summer Sunday Service schedule would be announced when next summer season approaches. But presently, we think that the worship schedule is not going to be changed even during the summer time. CIUC is participatory community where every one is invited to use their talent. If you think providing your gift such as singing or playing musical instrument, please contact Peggy (247-2287).

  • Scripture Reading Volunteers

    Lay Readers are required to read scripture each Sunday. You can volunteer to read at our Sunday service. Scripture readings usually include one reading of New Testament book and Old Testament book. Contact Bright (247-2034).
