Beausoleil First Nation EMS is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The service is staffed with 2 Primary Care Paramedics (PCP's) 24/7 and an emergency call back service with members of the Medical First Response Team. All of the staff, Paramedics and Emergency First Responders are certified by the Sunnybrook Osler Centre for Prehospital Care. The Paramedics use a Medtronic Physio-Control Life Pack 12 (LP12) with Semi-Automatic defibrillation. The Emergency First Responders use a Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 AED with medical direction from Sunnybrook Osler Centre for Prehospital Care. The Paramedics are also trained/certified in the use of Symptom Relief Drug Administration including: Nitroglycerine, ASA, Epinephrine 1:1000, Glucagon, Oral Glucose, Salbutamol and Dextrose 50% (IV). Additional training in CPAP (Continuous Positive Airways Pressure), 12 Lead Acquisition and Interpretation, King Airway, Termination of Resuscitation and the regional stroke study implementation have been completed and implemented. The staff is comprised of 11 Primary Care Paramedics and 6 Medical First Responders under the direction of Doug Rawson, Manager of Beausoleil First Nation EMS.
